ESOL Matters is looking for article submissions for our next edition (due August 15th)
ESOL Matters is a forum where ESOL practitioners and related professionals can share ideas on language teaching and learning specific to their fields.
We aim to:
Share good ESOL practice in teaching, training and management
Provide a forum which brings together international perspectives on ESOL teaching
Disseminate up-to-date information regarding current political and social issues related to the field
Publish conference reports and reviews of relevant books and materials
Promote educational research
Our readership is an international and heterogeneous group of ESOL practitioners, student teachers, scholars, teacher educators and other professionals who are interested in the broader issues of ESOL teaching and learning.
Although the main concern is the teaching of English to adult Speakers of Other Languages, the newsletter welcomes of broader interest to our readership. These may be theoretical or relate to the more practical concerns of the classroom, including case studies and personal accounts of language learning or teaching. In addition, we welcome materials reviews, conference reports and interviews with key professionals. We are also keen to include research features of relevance to the field of ESOL.
Word length
Guidance on word length is given below. All word counts include the title and references.
Main articles: 1500 – 2000 words
Research articles 1500 – 2000 words
Views from the classroom 1000 words
Materials reviews up to 700 words
Conference reports 750 -1000 words
Interviews 750 words
The editorial team is happy to provide advice and support on articles for submission and is particularly keen to encourage new writers. Please contact us if you would like to discuss your ideas or would like any guidance.
